Nancy Wilbur has over 30 years of experience in sales, marketing, consulting, general management, planning, and starting businesses. Throughout her career, she has focused on developing growth strategies for small and mid-sized businesses. She has applied this expertise, combined with P & L responsibility, to a variety of industries including printing, office supplies, training & development, retail, hospitality, consulting, and direct marketing.
Most recently as Managing Principal of a Boston-area consulting firm, Nancy turned around a declining business, rebuilt the organization, improved quality of service, increased market awareness, and won new business in a very competitive market. The consulting firm more than doubled its sales and exceeded its profit goal by nearly 500%.
Previously, Nancy founded a training and development company for a group of investors in New York as a way to leverage the investment firm’s portfolio of companies. Together with a small team she created the business concept from market research to launch, developing new products and a new distribution channel.
She was one of the key architects of growth for an entrepreneurial printing and office supply company that grew from $30 million to $240 million. She developed million-dollar product lines and sophisticated customer modeling tools to analyze and drive business segment growth; researched, tested, and developed new markets; and became general manager of the largest division. The division contributed 70% of corporate sales and 89% of profit from operations.
Promoted to Vice President - International she researched the European market, and developed a successful UK market test. She led an international team that created a UK subsidiary and directed the construction of a purpose-built production facility in Chester, England.
Throughout her career Nancy has led qualitative and quantitative research projects in five countries including new business concepts, products, markets, acquisition targets, international expansion, advertising, buyer behavior, client satisfaction, and sales and marketing audits. She is an experienced planner — leading and facilitating business and strategic planning, as well as marketing, project, and action planning.
Nancy has a BA in English Literature from Lake Forest College and an MBA in marketing from Clark University. She was also selected for the Strategic Marketing Management Program from the Harvard Business School. She enjoys sailing, gardening, music, and entertainment. She and her husband are residents of Weston and Chatham.
