Bank of America's Seminars Create a Local Lending Presence

Salem, MA—October 2003—To create a program allowing it to make headway with local lenders, Bank of America (BOA) turned to Inc. magazine to implement a co-branded seminar series. As an outsource partner, King Fishwas responsible for managing and executing the meetings.

"Bank of America valued the co-branding opportunity Inc. offered, but it was the King Fish infrastructure that allowed the bank to meet its branding goals," says King Fish's Director of Sales and Marketing Brad Ketchum III. "As a nationwide entity, Bank of America felt it was key that they be able to establish a strong presence among local lenders. The initial plan was to target major markets first, including Baltimore, Boston, Houston and Seattle, and then roll the series out nationwide. Our job has been to handle every aspect of execution, from site selection and food and beverage, to speaker selection, registration and attendee follow-up. BOA thought that each seminar might bring in 15 to 20 participants. Running ads in local business journals and using other sources, we were able to bring more than 60 attendees to the Seattle seminar alone. But for BOA, the events are not just about putting 'butts in seats', but creating brand exposure. Based on post-event work King Fish did with local bankers, we found they were pleased with the quality of content in the seminar, which is exactly what works to bolster the BOA brand in their minds."
