Sally was part of the Bon Appetit editorial team from 1989 to 2006 where she was the New York senior editor for five years. Prior to Bon Appetit, she was a senior editor for House Beautiful and associate food editor for House & Garden. She currently writes and produces food, wine, lifestyle, and travel pieces for Big Sky Journal, and has written and produced articles for The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Organic Style, More, Country Home, Wine Spectator, Vegetarian Times, Health, Epicurious.com and other national publications and e-zines.
As an author, she wrote Around the Southern Table, a book nominated for “Best Book of the Year” by the James Beard Foundation and The Hungry Traveler: France, a concise guide to dining in France. Sally co-authored The Foster’s Market Cookbook published by Random House in April 2002. She also she co-authored Eleanora’s Kitchen, which focuses on southern Italian home cooking. The book was published by Broadway Books in April, 2004. She holds a Master’s degree in art history, a BFA. in Art Education, and an intermediate diploma from l’École de Cuisine La Varenne cooking school in Paris.
