Sandwiched between early morning trail runs and evenings chasing his growing family around, our resident Director of Operations builds and leads our talented creative teams to award-winning results. Lots and lots of awards, in fact.

So what exactly does a Director of Operations do?

I build and manage creative teams from concept to deployment for every King Fish project, across all platforms. This includes ensuring our design studio is informed, inspired, and yes, well caffeinated. I partner with our account managers to provide creative direction and platform insight. Lastly, there is managing operations in our business management application.

Now how would you explain that to your five-year-old niece?
I know this is a hypothetical question, but I’ve had this conversation with one of my nieces who is very smart and artistic, so she gets the whole design thing. I tell my friends I buy coffee for people who draw pictures all day. Some get it, some think I’m in witness protection.

What motivates you?
The opportunity to find creative solutions. Every day we are presented with a series of challenges across our organization. Design challenges in the studio, managing our internal resources and workflow efficiently, getting the most of technology across our multiple platforms and partners. Developing great solutions, that you know are smart and right for your client, and doing so with a talented and engaged team makes every day rewarding. .

You felt you deserved a big fat raise the day you...
Found Cam’s “stolen” car. All the other stuff is part of the job and the expectation at King Fish.

Client like working with you because...
We all are invested in the programs and the partnership we build with our clients. Their success is our success and we don’t lose sight of that. We get paid to be creative, to explore color, imagery, tone, materials, formats, and new technology that when properly applied and executed builds community and drives results. You really can’t beat that as a job description. Our clients share in our level of commitment and enjoyment in what we create.

The best thing a client ever said to you was...
“That is a brilliant design concept. How much does it cost?”

The kind of client you love working with...
Understands how strong creative supports the content and creates a great user experience across any platform.

How would you describe yourself in three words?
Very. Wicked. Smart.

And what would your colleagues say?
Most likely to violate the dress code. Talks very fast.

Any pet peeves?
Naysayers and the word “falafel.”

If someone met you, they’d probably never guess...
I was an aspiring power lifter until 2005.

When you are not working you are most likely...
Herding big wheel riders back to the barn.

Would you shave your head for $1,000?
Sure, at the rate I’m going I might as well get on with it, eh?
