Kimberly Jackson

Editorial Strategist
Kimberly Jackson

As a French major, Kimba harbored dreams of working at the Parisian United Nations. Selfishly, we are glad some dreams are shattered because we just have no words — in this or any other language — to describe how shattered we’d be to lose her special brand of je ne sais quoi.

So what exactly does an Editorial Strategist do?

I strategize. I ideate (Yes, that is a word). I come up with the story. The angle. The hook. The voice. I also pick out really great restaurants for client meetings.

Now how would you explain that to your five-year-old niece?
I’m a really good thinker.

Walk us through a typical day.
I get my three kids out the door, feed the pets, find my keys and cell phone. Once at the office, see answer #1. Afterwards, I pick up my kids, feed the pets, and lose my keys and cell phone.

If someone met you, they’d probably never guess ...
That I am originally from Kansas: I have a very mixed-up accent.

When you grow up you wanted to be ...
5’10” and blonde.

Would you shave your head for $1,000?
No. After taxes it only leaves you about $650 bucks. Who would shave their head for $650 bucks?

What do you love about working here?
The way that our clients are so pleased with the outcome of our efforts. Or maybe the view of the ocean. It’s a toss-up.

The best thing a client ever said to you was...
“Can you do that again?”

Why do you think clients like working with you?
I make them laugh while giving them undivided attention and service — I don’t just listen, I really try to hear what they’re saying.

The kind of client you love working with is ...
Straightforward with a real challenge to tackle: I love solving problems.

You felt you deserved a big fat raise the day you ...
Delivered a 91/2-pound baby. But that was for my other job — it doesn’t pay nearly as well!

The thing you wish people understood about you is ...
I swear, I really am a good driver.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you be?
The Good Witch of the North: She makes everyone’s wish come true. She also had really great shoes.

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?
Kimba Jackson: Mother of the 3 Greatest Kids in the World. Hey, I’d buy that!
